After a long series of internationally sold out shows celebrating her albums "Shattered-Sgretolata and "Non Gioco Piu," her homage to Italian 60's jazz legend Mina, Greta Panettieri has been back in the recording studio.
On November 9th she emerges in an interpretive mode and nostalgic mood, dropping her new album "With Love," as a special treat for her fans.
The new album, arranged in collaboration with pianist/producer Andrea Sammartino is an intimate playlist of some of her favorite songs and a treasure of musical memories. From Vasco to Phil Collins, Lucio Dalla, Supertramp, Pino Daniele and special guest Flavio Boltro, "The songs we chose to reinterpret are great successes that echo from our past. They have a strong reminiscent power for us and right from the first notes are able to carry us back in time; almost like a quantum leap, making us re-live the same emotions of those years."
One of the best jazz voices of the new generation, Greta's recent experiences on tour in Russia, Italy and a memorable collaboration with living Brazilian legend Toquinho, who had Greta next to him on stage during concerts, have brought profound change to Greta's artistic core. "I now understand how important the affinity with my audience is. As a teenage performer I was extremely shy. Now, thanks to music, I love to perform live, connecting with my audience, who at every concert feel more and more free to go wild, sing along and experience the set as a moment of great joy and sharing. I dedicate this album to them and to the emotions they make me feel each and every time I'm onstage; "with love," just as the title indicates."
Since her 2014 album, "Non Gioco Più" Greta has brought the complexities of jazz to a wide audience through her soothing voice, unique arrangements and exciting improvisations. The new, "With Love" invites music lovers to inhabit the rhythms of jazz while at the same time journeying into a more melodic and pop sound to which Greta confers an original, refined look. Her band's fluidly traverses a range of expression that is simultaneously rocks, mellow, and harmonious; a deeply talented group of musicians whose sensitive interplay takes well-known songs that have made history in Italian and international pop music and makes them newly enchanting and meaningful. "At the beginning of the 2000's I was approaching the world of jazz as an up-and-comer, but in the United States many producers, including Larry Williams and David Novik (A&R at Decca UMG), were convinced that I had a huge pop potential. After more than 10 years I wanted to accept the pop challenge and have fun making this new musical journey with my musicians."
The Band: Greta Panettieri brings to "With Love" an internationally accomplished group of musicians with whom she has built, over the years, artistic affinity and deep friendship that reverberates in the songs. Alongside producer Andrea Sammartino (who also appears as pianist, keyboardist,) we find Daniele Mencarelli, one of the most interesting and complex bass players on the Italian scene, EuroJazz great Alessandro Paternesi on drums, renowned Brazilian bassist and guitarist Itaiguara Brandão, now a true New Yorker, who played guitar on Supertramp "Goodbye Stranger" and as special guest, the great trumpet player Flavio Boltro, featured on Vasco's "Vivere" and Cipriani's "Anonimo Veneziano".
